What a week it has been! Caleb Daniel Saunders was born on Monday 7/11 at 4:34am and we have been in love with him since the second we laid our eyes on him...I could literally eat his cheeks! He weighed in at a whopping 8 lbs 5.4 oz and was 21 inches long.
My water broke on Sunday 7/10 at about 11:30am while eating breakfast at home (yes, I had just woken up...don't judge me :)). And by 2:30pm the car was packed and we were on our way to Swedish Medical Center. We first checked into Triage to make sure my water actually broke and by 5:30pm I was settling into the birthing suite preparing myself for a long night. Labor progressed slowly (I was 4 cm dialated when I first checked in and at 11pm I was only 5cm), and the doctor was concerned about potential infection since the water broke 12 hours earlier. She ordered a round of Pitocin to kick start the contractions and I ordered a round of Fentanyl to take the edge off. The Fentanyl helped for a bit but by 12:30 I was ready for the big guns, so an epideral was ordered. Wow, what a good choice on my part! By 2am I was fully dialated and pushing by 2:20am....a little over 2 exhaustinig hours later Caleb was finally here!
We were discharged from the hospital on Tuesday and was told to visit our dr the next day as Caleb's bilirubin count was a bit high, sure enough he developed jaundice and is now spending his time in a bilibed. Other than that, he's doing great...doing all the things babies do, eating, sleeping, and pooping! His bilirubin count started to come down on Friday, and we're hoping to have him out of his special bed by the end of the weekend.
Congratulations Mama!! I love all the photos! I hope you are recovering well and getting some sleep! Keep the pics coming, Caleb is adorable!
